AlphaSniffer's Senior Scientist Dr. Bilge Hacioglu was chosen by the SCRIPPS Research Institute for the position of a participating investigator in the Consortium for Functional Glycomics. This highly desired nomination provides AlphaSniffer the opportunity of sharing resources, data and knowledge through this membership and the possiblity to contribute to the goals of the Consortium.

Dr Hacioglu's current research is aiming to investigate the interaction between glycan ligands and glycan binding proteins. In order to advance AlphaSniffer's core biomolecule detection platform, Dr. Hacioglu is planning to use the resources provided by the Consortium to obtain ligands from Core D, the G lycan Synthesis Core, and use them as capturing elements for specifically detecting glycan binding proteins for diagnostic and prognostic purposes. Core resources will enable us to conduct this important research since the required well defined, ready to immobilize glycan ligands difficult to obtain and their in-house preparation needs significant resources which is scarce in small businesses.
